How Do You Derive the Heat Equation?
Assuming the simplest case for a one-dimensional rod of length :
- A rod made of a single homogeneous conducting material, e.g. metal.
- Heat flows only in the -direction, e.g. the rod is laterally insulated.
- Temperature is constant at all points of a cross-section, e.g. the rod is thin.
