Seminar Selection Requirements

Choose five seminars according to the following distribution:

  • Week 2/3: One seminar (required)
  • Week 5/6: One seminar (required)
  • Week 8/9: One seminar (required)
  • Week 11/12: One seminar (required)
  • Any week: One additional seminar

Essay Requirements

For each of the five chosen seminars, write a short essay in blog post style.

Required Elements

  • Date of the seminar
  • Title of the seminar
  • Speaker’s name

Writing Quality

  • Flawless spelling and grammar
  • Engaging writing style
  • Accessible to a lay audience

Content Requirements

  • Substantial content that accurately reflects the seminar
  • Complete coverage of the entire seminar
  • Clear statement of the key take-home message
  • Discussion of societal context
  • Discussion of research context

External Sources

  • Include at least 1 reference
  • Include at least 1 quoted opinion
  • All sources must be relevant to the seminar
  • Sources should either support or provide balanced perspective on the seminar content

Peer Assessment Requirements

For each of the five chosen seminars, complete a peer assessment using the rubric below.

Assessment Guidelines

  • Feedback must remain polite even when suggesting improvements
  • Submissions are anonymous - attach codes for lecturer identification
  • Assess each criterion according to the scoring guide
